Footballer Shebby Singh Dies at age 61- How did he die!

Popular football personality Serbegeth “Shebby” Singh died today, leaving many fans in shock. It is learnt that the 61-year-old, who was known for his colourful and passionate punditry on television, suffered a heart attack while cycling in Sunway Iskandar in Johor Baru.

After making his international debut in 1982, Shebby was a key member of the national team for nine years, representing Malaysia in the Asian Games in 1982, 1986 and 1990. He also helped Harimau Malaya to a SEA Games gold medal in 1989 and a bronze medal in the 1985 SEA Games.

He donned the Malaysian kit 61 times, playing his final game against England in a friendly at Stadium Merdeka in 1991.

On the local front, Shebby played for his home state of Johor as well as Kuala Lumpur, where he achieved his greatest success as a player winning every major domestic honour.

Shebby’s last stint with football saw him serving as technical adviser to Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) from 2014-2015.

FA of Malaysia president Datuk Hamidin Amin said he was saddened to hear about Shebby’s death, and offered his heartfelt condolences to his family.

“Sad day for Malaysia football. He was a great player and a friend,” said Hamidin.
